GAME OVERVIEW
•     Millersville makes its 2011 debut at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Saturday against C.W. Post. The Marauders are coming off a 10-7 win at Cheyney, improving their record to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC East. Millersville received a 33-yard field goal from Anthony Kassab with 1:33 left on the clock to clinch the victory.
•   Saturday's game is "Black Out." Fans coming to the game are asked to wear black to support Millersville. Also, the first 100 students at the game receive free popcorn in a Millersville mini-megaphone.
•    The Marauders are looking for a spark on offense as it is tied for 15th in the PSAC with an average of 8.2 points per game. That task might be tougher against C.W. Post after starting running back Mike Jones suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter against Cheyney. He is questionable for the game, and if he is out, David Coates will likely earn the first start of his career.
•    Like the rest of the team, Coates has struggled to get going in the ground game. He's averaged 1.8 yards per carry on 35 carries, but he is a multi-faceted threat. He has four catches and made a 53-yard catch against Cheyney. That stands as the team's longest play from scrimmage this season. Coates has also made an impact in the return game. He is averaging a team-best 22.2 yards per return and has a long of 60 this year.
•     Millersville survived four turnovers last week against Cheyney. Three of them came in the form of a Dan Miller interception. He has now thrown six interceptions to three touchdowns, and all three touchdown passes came in the win over Lock Haven. Miller, however, leads the team in rushing touchdowns with two. Excessive interceptions could be a major issue against C.W. Post, which is tied for second in the PSAC in interceptions. Millersville, however, might be able to attack the Pioneers' secondary. Millersville has thrown for more than 100 yards in two games (both wins), and C.W. Post ranks last in the PSAC in passing defense. It has allowed 286.2 yards per game and 10 touchdown passes.
•    The Millersville defense was stout against Cheyney,  allowing zero rushing yards and holding Cheyney without an offensive touchdown. It was the fewest rushing yards allowed since holding Lock Haven to -28 in 2006. It was also the first time Millersville's defense held an opponent without an offensive touchdown since blanking Cheyney in 2007.
•    Millersville's scoring defense is ranked 14th in the PSAC at 35.0 points per game. Opponents, however, have scored five touchdowns on interception returns and kick returns. Not including those scores, the defense is allowing 28.0 points per game, which would rank 12th in the league.
•    After ranking 16th in the PSAC in rushing defense for three consecutive years, the Marauders are playing much better agains thte run. The unti currently ranks ninth, allowing 137.6 yards per game.
•    Brian Knell has gone two games without an interception but his three in the first three games still has him ranked in a tie for second in the PSAC.
•     Linebacker Pat Maloney led Millersville in tackles in all four games he played in 2010 and has picked up right where he left off. In 2011, he has a team-high  32 tackles and has led the team or tied for the team lead in four of five games. He's totaled 85 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss in those eight games.
•     Daniel Jones started seven games at inside linebacker in 2010, but coaches moved him to defensive end prior to this season. He has quickly emerged at the position. Against Bloomsburg, Jones tied for the team lead with eight tackles and also made two tackles for loss. He leads all defensive linemen with 15 tackles and is the team leader with 5.0 tackles for loss. He also has 1.5 of the team's 8.0 sacks and has batted down a pass.

ABOUT THE SERIES
•    C.W. Post joined the PSAC East in 2008 and has won all three meetings against the Marauders. The Pioneers have had their way with the Marauder defense in those three games, averaging 46.3 points per game. C.W. Post has averaged 474 yards of total offense and 296.3 yards rushing in the three games while Millersville has 237 total rushing yards (30 last season).
•    In 2010, C.W. Post won 49-21 behind Eric Anderwkavich, who rushed for 67 yards and threw for 188. Millersville relied on Bill Shirk, who threw for 255 yards.

 THE HEAD COACHES
•    Millersville's Greg Colby is in his fourth season as head coach. He is trying to rebuild a program that has not posted a winning season since 2000. Before coming to Millersville, he spent most of his career as an assistant at the Division I level. From 1979-86, he was the head coach at Schlarman High School and Naperville High School in Illinois. While at Schlarman, Colby led the team to back-to-back Illinois High School 2-A State Championships (1981-82).
•     Colby has an impressive resume. He came to Millersville after serving as the defensive coordinator at Northwestern from 2002-07 during which time the Wildcats posted three-straight six-win seasons for the first time in 70 years. He was also the defensive coordinator at Kent State for four seasons and served as a defensive assistant at Michigan State under Nick Saban and at Illinois under Lou Tepper.
•     Bryan Collins has been the Pioneers' head football coach since 1998, and enters his 14th season as the school's all-time winningest coach with an overall 102-46 record. He also serves as the school's athletic director. A  1987 graduate of St. John's, Collins served as an assistant coach at C.W. Post from 1991-93 as well as the defensive coordinator at Kings POint, where he helped the program to a Division III playoff appearance.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
•    After losing three consecutive games to open the season, C.W. Post has looked like a completely different team the last two weeks. The Pioneers scored just 27 points total in its three losses but has steamrolled Shippensburg (40-22) and West Chester (34-23) in the last two weeks to start 2-0 in the PSAC East. The Pioneers rushed for 269 yards on 56 carries. Jeff Mack totaled 126 and Steven Laurino gained 97. Grayson Laurino caught two touchdown passes. The Pioneers boast the fourth-ranked rushing offense in the PSAC but is 14th in passing offense.
•    Linebacker Ronnie Modik ranks second in the league in tackles with 10.6 per game.
•    C.W. Post played a difficult opening schedule. It played on the road at Mercyhurst (the defending PSAC Champion) and nationally-ranked California. American International is also 3-2.

THE LAST TIME OUT FOR THE MARAUDERS
•     Anthony Kassab broke a 7-7 tie between Millersville and Cheyney with a 33-yard field goal with 1:37 left in Saturday's PSAC East contest. The Marauder defense held firm on Cheyney's last ditch effort and sealed a 10-7 road victory.
•    The Marauders (2-3, 1-1 PSAC East) relied on a strong defensive effort that held Cheyney to no offensive scores and zero yards rushing on 39 carries. Millersville survived four turnovers and were helped by Cheyney's 13 penalties and 118 penalty yards.
•    Cheyney's only touchdown came on a pick six by Stan Banks in the second quarter. With 3:03 left in the half and the score tied at 0-0, Banks recorded one of his team's three picks and took it 28 yards for a TD.
•    The Marauders trailed until the opening drive of the third quarter. Dan Miller hooked up with David Coates for a 53-yard completion--the longest play from scrimmage this season. A Cheyney personal foul put Millersville at the Cheyney 6-yard line. After an incompletion and two runs, Millersville was faced with a fourth-and-goal from the one. Miller took a sneak over the goal line, and Kassab's extra point knotted the game at 7-7.
•    The Millersville defense held Cheyney to just three first downs over the next five drives, and the defense set up the offense with outstanding field position for the game-winning touchdown drive. With 2:49 left in regulation, Millersville took over on the Cheyney 36. Miller opened the drive with completions to Coates and Brent Collins. After reaching the Cheyney 12, the drive stalled. But Kassab came on and hit his second field goal of the season.
•    Cheyney's final drive reached the Millersville 25 but ran out of time when the pass from Chris Anderson to Darnell Burton fell incomplete.
•    Kassab had made only one of his first six field goal attempts heading into the game, but his make on Saturday cemented Millersville's second win of the season and improved the Marauders to 55-5-1 all-time against the Wolves.
•    The Marauders played without Mike Jones after the first quarter, and Coates led the team with 28 yards rushing. Collins was the team's leading receiver with four catches for 38 yards.
•    Cheyney's seven points was the fewest scored against Millersville since Cheyney was held to six during the 2008 season.
•    Pat Cantrell recorded 1.5 sacks, and Brian Knell led the Marauders with seven stops.
