Millersville, Pa. – After trailing Kutztown for the majority of the contest, the No. 20 Marauders clawed their way out of a 10-point deficit to defeat the Golden Bears 63-59 Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium. With the win Millersville extended its home win streak to seven and improved to 14-3 overall and 4-1 PSAC East.

It took the Marauders until mid-way through the second half to comfortably break through Kutztown's (9-8, 2-3 PSAC East) zone defense, but once they did their shots kept falling. Down by five at the 8:38 mark, Millersville started a shooting clinic and knocked down five 3-pointers over a five-minute span.

In that run the Marauders nabbed their first lead of the half en route to its fourth-straight conference victory.

Millersville struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 33 percent from the floor and 2-of-16 from behind the arc. The Golden Bears, on the other hand, took advantage of their 54.5 shooting percentage and 4-of-7 3-point shooting to take a 29-24 edge into the break.

Undaunted by their first-half performance, the Marauders opened the period with a basket to set the pace for the remainder of action. With 10:22 showing on the clock Millersville exploded to a 19-4 run, which was made up of three 3-pointers from Mashira Newman. Powerhouse Aurielle Mosley scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the second half alone.

The PSAC leader in offensive rebounds, Millersville kept itself in the game by out-rebounding Kutztown by a 32-18 margin in the second period. The Marauders grabbed down 12 boards just on the offensive end and put back 16 second chance points.

While MU's shooting was hot in the second half, the Bears could only connect on 10 of their 35 shots taken. Kutztown scored just three second chance baskets while Millersville pulled down 20 defensive boards.

The Marauders' defensive efforts paid off as they limited Kutztown's leading scorer Melissa McQuade (16.8 points per game) to 10 points—including just one basket in the first half. The Bears also recorded just four offensive rebounds, all of which came in the second period.

Mosley registered her eighth double-double performance with a game-high 17 rebounds. She also swatted away four Kutztown shots. Newman just missed a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds and a game-high eight assists.

Domonique Stroman scored 11 points and also recorded her first career 3-pointer. Mary Fleig received eight points off the bench, including a pair of treys from Carrie Sheffey.

Millersville heads to East Stroudsburg on Sunday for a snow-delayed conference match-up. Action is slated for 1 p.m., inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
