Brown Helps Marauders Bounce Back in Second Round

West Chester, Pa. - Behind the play of Daniel Brown, the Millersville men's golf team climbed two spots to finish fifth at the Edwin Cottrell Invitational played at Penn Oaks Golf Club.
Brown, who did not play in the any of the team's tournaments in the fall and had just one collegiate round of experience entering this weekend, posted a 5-over-par 76--the fifth-best round of the day. The score was one stroke better than Sunday's total, and at 12-over-par, he tied for ninth.
Millersville improved its team score by eight strokes in the second round, closing with a 314 and totaling a 636 for the invitational. The Marauders finished fifth. Indiana (Pa.) took the team title. IUP's Gavin Smith jumped teammate Leo Aklin with a 2-over-par 72 for first place in the individual race.
Like Brown, Brian Cooper and Shane Henry also bettered their first round efforts. Cooper shot a 5-over-par 76 in the second round to finish tied for 17th. Henry close with a 77 and came in a tie for 19th. Nick Magenta slipper into a tie for 39th, and Matt Dudas could not rebound from his first round 15-over-par and placed in a tie for 44th.
Millersville travels to Indiana, Pa., for the IUP Invitational on April 12.
