Henry One Shot Off the Lead After First Round of IUP Invitational

Indiana, Pa. - Sophomore Shane Henry fired a 1-under-par 70 Monday afternoon at the IUP Invitational, placing him one shot back of the leaders and the Marauders in fourth place.
Henry went out in 35 and turned in another 35 on the back nine. Despite trailing by just one stroke, he closed the first round in a three-way tie for fourth and one of 12 players within two shots of the leaders. Matt Demeo of Adelphi, Ross Pringle of Clarion and Sean Sweithelm of IUP led the pack with a 2-under-par 69.
As a team, the Marauders totaled a 298 and trail front-running Concord by 14 shots and were one of just five teams in the 17-team field to shoot under a 300 total.
Sophomore Brian Cooper posted a 4-over-par 75 and tied for 28th out of 88 players. Nick Magenta recovered from a front nine 40 with a 36 on the back. His 6-over score put him in a tie for 34th. Dan Brown finished one shot behind Magenta and in a tie for 40th. Matt Dudas closed out Millersville's lineup with an 84.
The final round from the Indiana Country Club takes place Tuesday morning.
