Marauders Slog Through Rain for Ninth Place
3/30/2010 9:00:09 PM | Men's Golf
Newark, Del. - The Millersville men's golf team ended the fall season on fire, but rainy and windy weather at the the spring opening Goldey-Beacom Invitational squelched the Marauders' play. They finished tied for ninth in a field of 14 teams.
The Marauders opened play Monday at the par-70 Deerfield Country Club in Newark, Del., and only two players broke 80. Sophomore Shane Henry led the team with a 6-over-par 76, and redshirt freshman Matt Dudas came in at a 9-over-par 79.
Nick Magenta and Tyler Harman each shot a 12-over-par 82. Brian Cooper closed with an 85.
After one round, Millersville found itself tied with Felician with a 319 total and 19 strokes off the pace set by St. Thomas Aquinas.
Unfortunately for the Marauders, the rain continued to pound Newark and put the course underwater and unplayable for Tuesday's second round. Millersville's 319 would stand.
Millersville competes in the West Chester hosted Edwin Cottrell Invitational next Monday and Tuesday.
