Marauders Struggle Through Three Days of Vulcan Invitational

Team Standings
Belle Vernon, Pa. - For three days, the Cedarbrook Golf Club and Vulcan Invitational did not treat the Millersville men's golf team well. Only a solid third round helped Millersville move up out of last position and into 11th in the final team standings.
Millersville closed the three-round tournament at 68-over-par, four strokes ahead of 13th-place Gannon. Millersville buried itself 33 shots out of the lead and in 13th place after a first round 310. It took them two rounds to crawl up two spots. Wilmington took the team title at 1-under-par--24 shots ahead of California (Pa.).
Wilmington's Paul Tighe and Nick Mafale grabbed the top two spots. Tighe shot 6-under-par and Mafale finished one shot behind.
Nick Magenta paced the Marauders with a 19th-place finish. He opened with a 3-under-par 69 but slipped down the leader board with a 74 in the second round and an 81 in the third.
Millersville's next highest finisher was Brian Cooper , who finished in a tie for 47th at 19-over-par. Matt Dudas and Shane Henry finished in a tie for 49th. Jeff Stokes came in at 22-over-par and in a tie for 57th.
The Marauders will look to bounce back at the Mercyhurst Invitational on Oct. 9-10.
