Marauders Fall at Ship in Crucial PSAC Contest

Box Score

Shippensburg, Pa. – Senior Kyle Loughlin scored his fifth goal of  the season for the Marauders but they couldn't keep pace with an upstart Shippensburg squad and fell 3-1 Saturday evening.

It was a game of attrition that saw six yellows and one red card with a combined 28 fouls. Millersville (7-4-1, 3-3-0 PSAC) and Shippensburg (9-5-0, 5-3-0 PSAC) were evenly matched throughout firing 20 shots each in the contest.

The Red Raiders got on the board first with a goal by forward Michael Celius in the seventh minute to give them a 1-0 lead.

The Marauders were finally able to find an equalizer in the 25th minute to level the score, 1-1. Loughlin received a Jeremy Yoder pass and put it past the Shippensburg keeper.

Six minutes later the Raiders returned the favor with a goal by Miles Harriger--his eighth of the season--from teammate Oli Templetion. Shippensburg took its 2-1 lead into the half.

The second half was the story of the yellow card. Both sides recorded three yellow cards while Millersville's Mike Whalen picked up the lone red card that will cause him to miss the next Marauder contest.

Mid-way through the second half Shippensburg found the back of the net for the third time and to extend the lead to 3-1--eventual final score as the Marauders didn't have an answer.

Millersville continues play on Tuesday evening as they take on District of Columbia at 7:30 p.m.
