
Kutztown Rallies to Overcome Marauders in Five Sets

Kutztown, Pa. – MIllersville took an early two-set lead, but a steadfast Kutztown squad rallied to win the next three sets and hand Millersville a 3-2 defeat in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) volleyball action Friday evening at Keystone Arena. The Marauders fall to 7-10 (1-6 PSAC), while the Golden Bears improve to 13-4 (3-4 PSAC).
Millersville had several chances throughout the match to secure its second conference victory of the season, but the Golden Bears would not surrender. The Marauders edged Kutztown in the first two sets 25-23 and 25-22, but Kutztown recovered to win three-straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 15-13.
Millersville held a 6-0 advantage over the Golden Bears in the match-deciding fifth set and came close to locking the win. The Golden Bears, however, overcame the six-point deficit and snatched the win from the Marauders' grasp.
Kutztown had four players that recorded double-digit kills and three players with double-digit digs. Erin Kissling registered a double-double for her team, knocking down 14 kills and totaling 20 digs.
Millersville received notable defensive efforts across the board. As a group, the Marauders totaled 12 blocks, with Mary Paul and Jesse Miller each tallying four.
On offense, Sue Caramanico collected a team-high 25 digs and Kelsey Gearhart added 10. Allison Huss led the Marauders with eight kills, while Alyssa Ott chipped in six and Miller and Paul each added five. Jessica Franz posted 16 assists on the night and slammed in a career-high four service aces.
Millersville travels to Lakewood, N.J., Saturday for two afternoon matches. The Marauders face Georgian Court at 1 p.m., followed by a match-up with Felician at 3 p.m.
