Women's Soccer Falls Victim to Slippery Rock Second Half Onslaught

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. — Visiting Slippery Rock got three second half goals and the Millersville women's soccer team's offensive woes continued in a 3-0 non-conference loss at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Suskie made two saves in keeping The Rock (5-3-1) off the scoreboard in the first half. The Marauders (2-7) could not generate any offense of their own, however, failing to put a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.

Slippery Rock's offense, which was kept in check for most of the first 60 minutes, finally broke through at 59:32. Alison Hindley added to her team-leading point total, netting her fourth goal of the season off a pass from Shelby Layman.

Hindley would find the back of the net again nearly six minutes later. The junior got taken down in the box and was awarded a penalty shot. Suskie was able to come up big, stopping the attempt, but Hindley quickly followed the ensuing rebound and put it away for a 2-0 Rock advantage.

The Rock finished off the scoring when Ashley Paganie took a Hindley feed and beat Suskie to the top left corner of the net in the 70th minute.

Suskie finished with six saves in the game, but the Marauders undoing came in being outshot 14-2 over the final period of play. The Marauders were only able to get one shot on goal for the entire game, that coming off the foot of Chrissy McLaughlin.

Millersville will look to knock off East Stroudsburg on Wednesday evening at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. The Warriors beat the Marauders 5-2 back on Sept. 2. Game time on Wednesday is set for 5 p.m.
