Marauders Shutout Lock Haven

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. — Sophomore Dan Prian scored first half goals 1:33 apart and Steve Melnick added a first half goal, as the No. 6 Millersville men's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 victory over Lock Haven in non-conference action at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Marauders (7-1) set the tone early and Prian was rewarded with his first goal of the season in the 18th minute. The lanky forward broke towards the net from the left side of the field and fired a shot that was initially stopped by Lock Haven (4-4-2) keeper Chris Custer. Matt Wilson collected the rebound, but he too was denied by Custer. Prian then jammed the ball into the left corner of the net, banking it off the post for a 1-0 Millersville lead.

Prian's tally 1:33 later came from the right side of the goal, as he took a pass from Wilson and quickly gave the Marauders some breathing room. The two goals were Prian's first two of the season, after scoring four in his freshman campaign last season.

The Black and Gold got its third goal from an unlikely source in Melnick. The senior from Lebanon, Pa., beautifully deflected home an Anthony Pagnotti throw-in just three minutes before halftime. The three goal lead was more than enough for Matt Langione, who made two saves in recording his 5.5 shutout this season.

The Marauders outshot the Bald Eagles 15-6 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Millersville now gets set to host PSAC East rival East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
