Avondale, Pa. - The Millersville men's golf team entered the second round of the Goldey-Beacom Invitational four shots off the pace. The Marauders improved their total score by 16 shots on the par 72 Hartefeld National course, but Adelphi surged in front of the pack with a 291 total, leaving the Marauders in fourth place in a 16 team field.
As a team, Millersville shot a 302 on the second day, which put it at 44 over and 13 shots behind Adelphi. Indiana (Pa.) shot a 36-over-par and Goldey-Beacom finished two shots in front of Millersville.
Darryn DeShong was tied for third after the first round and despite going one stroke lower to close with a 3-over-par 75. His 7 over score was six shots behind Adelphi's Brant Kummerfield, who led the tournament wire-to-wire.
Nick Magenta's 2-over-par 74 was Millersville's best round of the day, and he finished in a tie for 14th at 10 over. Trent Coldren tied for 25th with at 13 over. Brian Cooper tied for 36th and Shane Henry placed 48th.
Millersville travels to the IUP-Cecil Spadafora Invitational in Indiana, Pa. on April 13.
