Bryn Mawr, Pa. - The Millersville University swimmers finished the dual schedule Saturday by picking up two victories, beating Bryn Mawr 167-31 and Ursinis 118-86. After winning seven of the meet's 11 events at Bryn Mawr, the Marauder's season record stands at 7-3. The final two wins are the first and only ones for the Marauders in 2009 and come just as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships loom on the horizon.
With a 7-3 dual record, the Marauders--under Coach
Kyle Almoney--have recorded three-straight winning seasons. It is the first time the Millersville program has done so since totaling five in a row from 1989-94.
Millersville's freshmen dominated yet another meet by turning in four first-place finishes between them. The day's two stars, however, were freshman
Brittany Neifert and senior
Kara Rapp, who won two events each.
Neifert collected her first-place victories in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.86) and the 100 yard butterfly (1:02.93). Both times qualify her for the PSAC Championships.
Rapp also turned in a PSAC qualifying time: 11:10.40 in the 1,000 yard freestyle. Her other victory was in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:35.00.
Freshmen
Katelyn Schmittle and
Amie Mowery rounded out the team's wins and helped secure the team's victories for the Marauder. Schmittle posted a time of 26.30 in the 50 yard freestyle, while Mowery won the 200 yard indvidual medley with a time of 2:20.82.
Next up for the Marauders will be the PSAC Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 19-22 at Cumberland Valley High School.
