East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Michele Frayne took second place in the heptathlon, and the distance medley relay team set a new school record to lead the Millersville women's track team on the first day of the PSAC Indoor Championships in East Stroudsburg. As a team, the Marauders stand in seventh place.
Frayne finished first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.59 and also placed first in the long jump at 5.45 meters. Her point total of 3,402 was a season high and one of the 20 best totals in Division II this season, but fell just 80 points shy of Slippery Rock's Whitney Hendershot.
Millersville's distance medley team of Brittney Zuver, Brittany Yanora, Rachel Hull, and Priscilla Jennings, which had set the school record earlier this season at 11:58.82, shattered the previous mark by turning in a time of 11:55.55. The Marauders were bested only by Shippensburg, which holds the nation's fastest time this season, and Clarion.
The 4x800-meter relay team, comprised of Zuver, Hull, Elicia Anderson and Emily Francisco, completed the race in 9:52.05, which was good for sixth place.
In preliminary action, Brittany Yanora's 7.35 seconds in the 55-meter dash was the fourth-fastest time and qualified her for the finals. Yanora also qualified in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.17.
As a team, the Marauders finished the day with 17 points. Slippery Rock jumped to an early lead in the team race with 51 points, and Shippensburg closed with 35 points.
