
Women's Swimming Cruises Past Juniata for Second Straight Victory

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team notched its second straight win of the season, overwhelming Juniata 164-23 Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Natatorium.
The Marauders (2-0) won first place in every event, sweeping the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle relay. Freshman Laura Castello garnered two first place finishes, taking the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:41.32 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:42.97.
The 200-yard freestyle relay, consisting of senior Breann Martinez, sophomore Amie Mowery, freshmen Sara Steinagel and Sarah Bernhardt, boasted an impressive 1:43.61 finish, missing the school record by .56 seconds. All four members of the relay squad took home first places finishes in individual events as well.
Bernhardt finished the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.00 and the 100-yard freestyle in 55.33, and Steinagel won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.29. Martinez took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:24.92, and Mowery won the 200 butterfly by 10 seconds, in 2:22.44.
Freshman Kelsie Jones posted a time of 2:15.07 to win the 200-yard backstroke. Junior Courtney Wallace recorded her first win of the season in the 100-yard breaststroke to aid the Marauders' victory.
Millersville travels to Radford, Va., for the three-day Highlander Invitational from Nov. 19 through Nov. 21.
