Millersville Golfers Take Seventh at Burger King/OVU Invitational

Marietta, Ohio - Led by freshman Chris Orlando's 21st-place finish, the Millersville men's golf team opened its 2008 season with a seventh-place finish at the two-round Burger King/OVU Invitational held at Marietta Country Club in Marietta, Ohio.
The Marauders were tied for fourth with a 303 total after the opening round. A second round total of 308 put Millersville at 51-over-par and in seventh place in the 19-team field. Host Ohio Valley shot an impressive 12-over-par, finishing 11 shots better than runner-up Potomac State. Indiana (Pa.) placed third at 27-over-par.
The top individual finisher was Potomac State's Brian Affleck, who shot rounds of 70 and 68 to finish 2-under-par. He was the only player among the 95 finishers to shoot under par. For Millersville, #Orlando# was impressive in his collegiate debut. After shooting a 6-over-par, 76 in the first round, he bounced back with a 74 on day two to finish 10-over and tied with Mark Johnson of W.Va. Wesleyan.
Scott Oste shot rounds of 77 and 76 to place tied for 29th and senior #Darryn DeShong# shot back-to-back rounds of 7-over-par to place 31st. Lucas Serbun was only four shots off the pace at the end of first day, shooting a 3-over, 73. However, his 82 on the second day dropped him into 37th.
The Marauders have no time off as they travel to the Goldey-Beacom Fall Classic and begin play on Sunday.
