Millersville, Pa. – The No. 21 ranked Millersville men's soccer team continued to build on the best start in school history, as it took care of business in beating Shippensburg 4-0 Saturday evening at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Marauders' march to 5-0 started early, when senior Sean McLaughlin split the defense and found himself in on a partial brekaway. McLaughlin finished it off, beating Red Raiders' keeper Brad Patke for a 1-0 lead. A mere 1:16 after McLaughlin put the Marauders on top, fellow senior Ryan Kiley was able to get to a chipped ball that eluded Patke and put it home for a 2-0 Millersville lead.
Millersville pushed its lead to 3-0 with under three minutes to go in the first half, when freshman #Ethan Daubert took a shot that just trickled into the goal after Patke was able to get a piece of it.
Matt Wilson put the final tally up for the Marauders when he made a move past a defender and fired a shot from just inside the 18 that beat Patke near side. Wilson's goal came in the 56th minute and gave Millersville a commanding 4-0 lead.
The Marauders defense stiffled the Red Raiders all game long, as Shippensburg managed only two shots on goal. Matt Langione and Kurt Pleier combined on the shutout.
The Marauders wrap up a string of three straight home games Wednesday evening when they take on Kutztown at 7:30 p.m. at Chryst Field.
