New Castle, Del – The Millersville men's soccer team tallied an overtime goal against Philadelphia to take down the Rams 1-0 in day two of the Wilmington University Invitational and improve its record to 2-0 on the young season.
Millersville freshman Eric Pepper (Reading / Exeter Township) converted on a cross from senior Ryan Kiley (Bensalem / Conwell-Egan Catholic) in the 90th minute to clinch the victory.
Coach Steve Widdowson's team received another strong outing from sophomore keeper Matt Langione (York / Dallastown) who blanked the Rams with eight saves in the match up, giving him two shutouts in his first two starts of the season.
The Marauders totaled 13 shots and seven on goal, while Philadelphia totaled 15 on the contest, including 10 in the second half.
The Marauders have outscored their opponents 5-0 so far this season and are hoping to convert on their early season momentum, as they begin their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schedule Wednesday when they visit West Chester. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
