Millersville

George Love

After coaching with Greg Breitbach at North Dakota, George Love joined the Millersville staff as the special teams coordinator prior to the 2013 season. Love enters his fourth season with Millersville in 2016. He previously coached the inside linebackers and now coaches the safeties.

Love's special teams unit ranked among the best in the nation in blocking kicks over his first two seasons. The Marauders ranked second in Division II in 2013 and 2014 while Trenton Petrovich ranked first individually in blocked kicks. Love's kick return unit also set a school record for return yards in a season in 2014. He spent two seasons with David Coates, who graduated with the Division II career kick return yardage record.

Love has tutored a pair of All-PSAC East selections. Inside linebacker Reggie Slaton was named All-PSAC East after ranking second in the league in tackles. In 2015, Rasheed Johnson became the first Marauder defensive back to pick up All-PSAC East honors since 2009. Johnson also ranked fifth in the league in tackles.

Since his graduation from Eastern Illinois in 2007, Love has coached with some of the best football programs in the nation. He built a relationship with Breitbach while coaching the outside linebackers at UND from 2009-11. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Love was instrumental in recruiting, camps and community service.

Prior to his stint at North Dakota, Love served as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State from 2007-08, coaching the outside linebackers and coordinating the scout team offense. The Bearcats reached the NCAA Division II Championship twice and posted a 25-4 record in his two seasons on staff. Five of his players earned all-conference honors.

Love's career began as a student assistant coach at his alma mater. In the 2006 season, Eastern Illinois won the Ohio Valley Championship and reached the NCAA playoffs. One of his players earned All-America First Team honors. Most recently, Love coached the linebackers and assisted with the special teams at Eastern Illinois during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

As a student-athlete, Love helped Eastern Illinois to two Ohio Valley Conference titles. He led his team in interceptions twice while playing in the secondary. He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies. He also worked toward a master's degree in education at Northwest Missouri State.
