Millersville Womens Basketball

Brett Vana

Brett Vana joined the Millersville University women’s basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2023-24 season. He came to Millersville with over 20 years of collegiate and international coaching experience, including most recently as an assistant coach with Coach Kira Mowen at Division III Knox College.

His voluminous coaching resume began as a graduate assistant at Division I Western Kentucky University in August 1998. Since then, he’s spent time as an assistant coach at the Division I level for Chicago State University and Weber State. At Knox, he was an assistant on a team that possessed the Midwest Conference's No. 1-ranked defense allowing just 57.6 points per game. That translated to a school-record 22 victories and a 15-1 record in conference play, resulting in a Midwest Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Vana has also been successful as a head coach, especially during his two seasons at Louisburg College. He coached the Hurricanes to a 32-3 record and captured the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division II National Championship during the 2012-13 season. Because of his success, he was honored as the NJCAA National Head Coach of the Year.
