"I think we are getting a bit healthier and sharper in performance as we approach championships," said head coach Andy Young. "We have had some nice performances over the past few weeks, which I think has our team hopeful that we will be very competitive on the weekend."
The Marauders look to improve upon their indoor championship performance, where they placed ninth out of 13 teams. Sarah Hessler, Chloe Enck, and Katelyn Murphy each earned hardware during the meet, with Hessler also standing out as the lone Marauder named to the USTFCCCA All-Region Team during the winter season.
"I think we have struggled a lot this year between injuries and trying to decide are identity as a team," said Young. "We aren't perfect but we are improving and I'm always excited to see where that takes as we head into our peak season of Outdoor T&F."
The Marauders have recorded over 20 qualifying marks for the championships, highlighted by standout performances from Hessler, Enck, Murphy, and Milan Snell, who is set to compete in three individual events.
"Milan, who qualified in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter run while also leading our 4x400 relay team, has really stepped up this season," said Young. "Our multi-event athletes had some big breakthroughs at Messiah, the 4x400 at the Millersville Invite, and our hammer throw group has certainly been a highlight so far this season."
At the Messiah Invite, the Marauders' heptathlon group delivered a dominant performance, sweeping the top three spots. Ava Wilson claimed first with 4,086 points and currently ranks third on the PSAC Outdoor Performance List.
