The Marauders forfeited the opening match at 125 pounds, giving Pitt-Johnstown an early six point lead to start the dual. Collin Higgins returned to the mat at 133 for Millersville, and his match ended in the first period. The senior was taken down and put into a cradle that led to a pin, giving the Mountain Cats a 12–0 lead after two matches.
Nick Cottone was unable to replicate yesterday's performance at 141 as he lost to the No. 7-ranked wrestler in the nation. The opening period finished tied 0–0, but the advantage favored the Mountain Cats in the final two periods as they secured a decision victory. Daniel Sinclair ended Pitt-Johnstown's run with a dominant technical fall. The sophomore grabbed a quick takedown to open the match and immediately turned the Mountain Cat onto his back for additional points. Sinclair repeated the sequence later in the match, securing the technical fall at 5:14.
Head Coach Jerry Boland said, "Danny had to shake off a rough performance last night. He knows he's better than that. He put it behind him and went out and was relentless in all facets today. That was huge for his confidence."
Taylor Robinson and Richie DeFulvio both wrestled up a weight class at 157 and 165, respectively. Robinson's match was short-lived, as the redshirt senior was pinned in the opening period. DeFulvio responded with a decision victory over his opponent. The sophomore grabbed an early takedown in the first period and gained additional back points along the way. Following a Pitt-Johnstown escape, DeFulvio added another takedown to build a healthy lead and secure the win.
"Richie has been battling some illnesses over the past month and is finally starting to get back to himself." Said Coach Boland. "He went toe to toe with the 10th ranked guy in the country last night. Then turned it around and beat a nation qualifier today."
Nick Bennett wrestled up two weight classes for Millersville at 174. The New Jersey native grabbed an early lead but did not hold it for long. The Mountain Cat escaped and secured a takedown before the end of the period. Bennett elected to start the second period on bottom but was unable to escape to tie the match. He made a late effort in the final period to take the lead but was reversed and taken down, resulting in an 8–3 victory for Pitt-Johnstown.
At 184, Avery Aurand stepped onto the mat for the Marauders. Aurand was taken down early in the first period but was able to escape, cutting the deficit to two points. The freshman was taken down again before the end of the period, extending Pitt-Johnstown's lead to five. Aurand struggled to find momentum and went on to lose by technical fall.
Jaxon Townsend carried his momentum over from the previous day's dual and made quick work of his opponent at 197. Townsend quickly turned the Mountain Cat onto his back and earned the pin at 1:04, completing a clean sweep on the weekend. Coach Boland said, "Jaxon has a unique style that can create matchup problems for his opponents. He's starting to get comfortable using his style and getting to his attacks with it. He was dominant last night and carried that momentum into today. He has to continue to believe in himself as we prepare for another big conference dual next week."
Kurt Scheuerman returned to the mat at 285 and faced the nation's No. 2-ranked wrestler. The sophomore was taken down early in the match and later pinned to close the dual.
The Marauders dropped their second dual of the weekend, 35–14, moving their PSAC dual record to 1–4 on the season. Millersville returns home next week to take on Kutztown on February 6 at 7 p.m. for Alumni Day.
