MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — In a redemption game against No. 17 Kutztown, Millersville secured a 10–4 victory in the second meeting of the season, keeping the Marauders' postseason hopes alive. The tenacious Millersville defense held the Golden Bears scoreless for 37 minutes.
Every Marauder contributed significantly to the upset. Ashlyn Simonetti led the offense with a season-high five goals and added an assist.
On the defensive end, Katlyn Krebs and Bryn Frankhouser each recorded two caused turnovers, while Krebs also collected a season-high seven draw controls.
Goalkeeper KC O'Neill delivered her strongest performance of the season, posting a season-best 14 saves—seven of which came in the third quarter. O'Neill shut out Kutztown in the second half and allowed just four goals in the first.
"We played a full 60 minutes on both ends," head coach Mike Faith said. "Casey played unbelievably, and the way that I know she could. It was fun to watch, and the defense trusted her. We gave up some shots, but KC was there to have their backs as the offense took care of the ball for the most part and buried their shots."
Kutztown started strong, netting two quick goals. However, Simonetti halted the run with a well-placed free-position shot. The Golden Bears added another to close the first quarter with a 3–1 lead.
Millersville responded in the second quarter, scoring twice within 11 seconds to tie the game at 3–3. Kaleigh Dunn then scored off a cut to give the Marauders their first lead, 4–3. Kutztown scored its fourth and final goal on a free-position attempt. Simonetti closed the half with a last-minute goal, sending Millersville into halftime with a 5–4 advantage.
The Marauders added three more goals in the third quarter while O'Neill remained impenetrable in the net. The Golden Bears fired nine shots—seven on goal—but O'Neill maintained a perfect save rate during the quarter.
Millersville showed no signs of slowing down. O'Neill tallied four more saves in the fourth quarter, and the team scored twice to secure the 10–4 victory.
"Kutztown scored 20 goals against us a month ago," said Faith. "For us to come out and hold a really good team to four goals for the final 45 minutes was something we've been talking about having pride in defense. Every possession matters, and they took that to heart."
Millersville concludes the regular season at Shippensburg on Saturday, April 26. A win would clinch the program's first playoff berth since 2022. A loss would leave the Marauders one spot short of postseason contention.
