Pezzone's scorching start lands her on NFCA's Pitcher of the Year Watchlist

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Millersville softball hurler Nicolina Pezzone is in the midst of a breakout 2025 campaign, and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has taken notice; the organization announced Thursday afternoon that the junior was named to their Pitcher of the Year Watchlist. She's one of 15 student-athletes that received the distinction in the Atlantic region.
Pezzone was instrumental to the Marauders' 16–4 start, racking up seven wins before being pegged with her first loss over a month into the season. In total, the right-hander's got an 8–3 record and a 2.16 earned run average (ERA) in 58.1 innings pitched thus far. The highlight of her season was an eight-strikeout complete-game shutout against Jefferson on March 4 that lowered her ERA to 0.70. She's 10th in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in ERA, fourth in wins and eighth in strikeouts (63).
This is the second time the Struthers, Ohio native has been lauded this season, as she claimed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's (PSAC) Pitcher of the Week award on March 10. She's the first Marauder to be named to the pitching watchlist since her former teammate Alex Schaefer did so in 2023. Last season, Aleese Angelo was added to the NFCA Player of the Year watchlist as well.
Pezzone toes the rubber once more when the Marauders host No. 11 East Stroudsburg on March 28 at 1 and 3 p.m.
