Millersville University is mourning the loss of women's golfer
Sydney Barnes, a junior biology major and cherished member of the women's golf team, who passed away on Monday.
Sydney was a bright light in the Millersville University community–an exceptional student, a dedicated teammate and a friend to many. She was a three-year starter for women's golf, playing in 27 events and helping the program set a school record for wins in 2025. She memorably recorded the first hole-in-one in the history of the program as a freshman.
Sydney played the game and lived life with a smile and joy that came from her faith, which was evident to all. She was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She excelled as a student and was named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete. Her presence on the team, within the Athletic department and on the Millersville University campus will be greatly missed.
Millersville extends its deepest sympathies to Sydney's family, friends, classmates and teammates.
