Marauders defeated by Firebirds in first match of the season

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. — Millersville's men's tennis team was defeated by District of Columbia by the score of 5–2. It was the Marauders first duals match of the season.
 
The Marauders started strong, winning two of the three doubles matches to start the day. In the top spot, Lino Morin and Sebastian Castro, last year's second pair, moved up and won the match 6–1. In the third pairing, Victor Suarez and Joel Oetliker clinched the doubles point, winning 6–3. However, the Marauders were not able to carry momentum over to singles play, as Suarez was the lone 'Ville player to win his match. Suarez worked out of the third seed, completing a comeback after dropping the first set 2–6, 6–2, 6–4
 
This was the Marauders first of three duals matches of the fall season, with the next one coming against Mount St. Mary's at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Emmitsburg, Md.
