Marauders dominate competition at Millersville Metrics

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Marauders hosted the Millersville Metrics and won in dominating fashion, racking up 232 points to finish first in a field of 16 teams.

- The biggest moment of the day came in the last event, when Darian Hauf came mere centimeters away from setting the PSAC Outdoor record in pole vault. Hauf still came away with the meet record and a new personal record, clearing a height of 13-2 1/4.
- The Marauders two best performers in the long jump during the indoor season took the top two places today, with Chanel Hercules winning first place with 17-6 3/4, and Aubrey Bitner winning second place with 17-4.
- Morgan Janiuk finished the 1,500-meter run in first place, pacing the pack with a time of 4:50.24.
- Cora Heilman came away with her second win in as many meets in the 400-meter hurdles, winning with a time of 1:08.19.
- The top three spots in the 400-meter dash was all Millersville, as Aubrey Sydnor took home first with a time of 59.23, and Shelby Derkosh and Ashlyn Hickey came in second and third place.
- Millersville had two teams place inside the top three spots in the 4x100-meter relay, with the team of Hauf, Arianna Kouakou, Aurora Conrad, and Emma Elwell winning in 48.94, and Katelyn Murphy, Heather Lesinski, Hercules, and Camree Patterson finishing third.
- Murphy continued her dominance in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.38. Lillian LaBure grabbed third place with a time of 16.40.
- The Marauders weren't able to win the 200-meter dash, but occupied the next six spots, headlined by Derkosh in second place, and followed by Conrad, Elwell, Lesinski, Kouakou, and Sydnor.
- Janiuk also earned a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.87
- On Friday, there weren't as many events, with just the two longest distance runs and the hammer throw being held. In the 10,000-meter run, Hannah Sweda finished third in 39:14.23, and Emily Massage was right behind her in fourth place.
- In the hammer throw, Seya Trujillo took third with a throw of 169-4, with Maddy Downs, Sarah Hessler, finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth.
- Despite the wind, the Marauders success in throws carried over into day two of the meet, as Downs won the discus throw with a throw of 139-3. Hessler finished as the runner up, and Trujillo finished in third place.
- Hessler scored another high finish in the shot put, finishing second with a throw of 41-3, with Downs throwing for 37-6 3/4 to finish fourth.

- The Marauders enter a stretch in their season of competing in three meets in six days, starting with the two-day Messiah Multi and Invitational at noon on Thursday, April 11 in Grantham, Pa.
