Kutztown’s dominant offense triumphs over Millersville lacrosse

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The No. 10 Golden Bears were relentless on offense as they claimed the 18-8 win over the Marauders.

Kutztown blanked Millersville in the first quarter to take the small but early 3-0 lead. The Marauders found their offensive rhythm in the second as Kaleigh Funk scored the first goal with the man-up advantage. Funk played a role in all three goals scored in the second as she assisted Rachel Keeney for the second goal and found the back of the net once more to try and close the 8-3 gap at the half.

Millersville, was more successful in the second half as they scored five goals, two more coming from Keeney. Nevertheless, it was not enough as Kutztown's dominant offense netted 10 goals to extend the lead and claim the PSAC East win.

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Keeney accumulated her sixth hat trick this season
  • KC O'Neill had seven saves
  • Liv Genovese had a season-high of six caused turnovers
  • Keeney and Mary Moraca had five draw controls a piece

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH KAITLYN HAFDELL

  • Thoughts on today's game: "It wasn't the score we were looking for but we did everything right. Our hustle was there and our concepts were the right choices. Unfortunately, Kutztown capitalized on the opportunities they were given, but we did not make it easy for them. We made them work hard for every point they earned. And every point we earned was a team effort. I was proud of how we played today."
