Hauf wins pole vault as Marauders kick off outdoor track & field season

TOWSON, Md. – The Marauders began their outdoor season at the Towson Spring Invitational, with the event highlighted by a first place finish from Darian Hauf in the pole vault. The meet had athletes from 31 different programs, with the Marauders earning 13 top-five finishes.

- Hauf, who placed second at the PSAC Indoor Championships in pole vault, won the event today, clearing 12–4 1/2 and hitting the NCAA mark. Megan Malecki and Aubrey Bitner also placed inside the top ten, finishing sixth and eighth respectively.
- The Marauders had a solid day in the throws events, as Mikaela Wolf was the runner up in the javelin throw with a distance of 114–8.
- In the discus throw, three Marauders advanced to the finals, as Sarah Hessler finished third with a throw of 145–9. Maddy Downs was right behind her in fifth place, and Seya Trujillo finished in eighth place.
- Trujillo earned the Marauders another second place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 162–7, as Downs also advanced to the finals and finished in sixth place.
- In the last throws event, Hessler led the Marauders with a fourth place finish and a distance of 39–2 1/4. Downs picked up a fifth place finish and Trujillo came in seventh place.
- After breaking the indoor record at the conference championships, Chanel Hercules ended in fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 17–8 1/4, the eighth best distance in program history.
- Millersville got some good performances out of its distance runners as well. Sam Foster took second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:27.44
- In the 5,000-meter run, Morgan Janiuk finished third with a time of 18:21.31. Hannah Sweda was right behind her in fifth place, and Emily Massage was there as well in eighth.
- Bri Pollock earned a top-three finish with a 4:57.01 performance in the 1,500-meter run.
- The Marauders 4x100-meter relay team of Hauf, Arianna Kouakou, Aurora Conrad, and Emma Elwell finished fourth with a time of 49.29.
- Cora Heilman took third place in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:07.95. Mary Weiss, Emily Skidmore, and Lily LaBure all placed inside the top 10, finishing seventh, ninth, and 10th respectively.
- In the high jump, Lyndsey Kregel finished in sixth place after clearing a height of 4–11.
- The Marauders had a runner advance to the finals in both the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles. In the dash, Aurora Conrad came in sixth place with a time of 12.38, and Katelyn Murphy finished seventh with a time of 15.36. Murphy's time is good for ninth best in program history.
- In the 400-meter dash, Aubrey Sydnor took seventh place with 59.10. Shelby Derkosh finished just behind her in 10th place.

- It was a solid day for the team today, led by Darian with the NCAA mark in the pole vault and winning the event. A lot of wind made running some of the races pretty challenging and some of the field events as well, but overall it was a good day to start the outdoor season.
- The Marauders host the Millersville Metrics in a two-day meet, starting at noon on Friday, April 5 at Biemesderfer Stadium.
