MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — It was a successful season for Millersville women's volleyball both on and off the court, as four Marauders earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors for this past season. Emma Ludwig, Caroline Halsey, Mya Cascario and Taylor Welter all made the cut, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Ludwig, a senior majoring in communications with a concentration in public relations, has earned the honor in every season that she was eligible and takes home her third straight CSC Academic All-District nod. Fellow senior Cascario is majoring in allied health/sports medicine and earns it for the second consecutive season while junior Halsey is an accounting major claiming her second straight honor as well. Junior Welter is a first-timer and did so while majoring in early childhood education.
All four Marauders were integral to the team's return to the playoffs in 2024. Ludwig claimed the top spot in career assists in program history while being named First Team All-PSAC East and Welter was named Second Team All-PSAC East. Halsey led the team in total blocks (87.0) while finishing among the top 10 in single-season team history in hitting percentage (.292, eighth) and block assists (79.0, seventh). Cascario excelled in her role as a defensive and service specialist as well, playing in all 30 matches while finishing second on the team in service aces (41) and fourth in digs (206).
The CSC Academic All-District program is a part of the organization's Academic All-American initiative, which is designed to honor college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. To be eligible for All-District, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while appearing in at least 90% of their team's matches. This year, Ludwig was one of a select few who were chosen to advance to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-American consideration. The results of that voting process will be announced on Jan. 14, 2025.
