Marauders face a must-win to keep possible playoff contention alive

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • Millersville and West Chester faced each other earlier in the season. Millersville prevailed 3-1, scoring three goals in five minutes. Aubrey Strohecker netted the first goal, followed by Isabel Coy and Kiley Marandola. West Chester tried to come back late in the game, with Kaitlynn Haughey scoring in the 81st minute, but it was not enough to make the comeback. Millersville holds a 6-4-5 record, with their most recent game ending in a 1-1 tie against Shippensburg. As for WCU's record, it sits at 9-5-1, coming into this game off a 1-0 loss against Bloomsburg.
  • For Millersville to keep playoff hopes alive, they must win their next two games against West Chester and Lock Haven. In addition to winning out, West Chester must tie or lose in their final match against Shepherd to put the Marauders in playoff contention. On the other hand, they could also receive a playoff berth if Bloomsburg were to lose both games or lose one game and tie the other. There is still hope for Millersville to creep into playoff contention.

  • Their goalkeeper, Grace Keen has started and played in all 15 games this season. Keen recorded 44 saves on the season thus far alongside a 0.789 save percentage.
  • West Chester's offense is led by Alyson Cutter and Faith Matter. Cutter has had a breakout season, scoring a career-best 12 goals. She leads the Rams in goals scored alongside one assist. Matter has found the back of the net six times this season, but where she shines is through her service. Matter leads the Rams in assists, tallying 11 this season alone. 

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Golden Rams hold the upper hand 25-11-3 against the Marauders.
  • These two teams last met on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2024. All the action came in the second half, and Millersville prevailed 3-1.
