MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Men's soccer stars Haven Thomas and Jake Van Vorhees showcased their skills on the pitch and in the classroom to be named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District®.
The CSC Academic All-District® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes in three NCAA divisions and NAIA. Nominees must be a starter in 66% of the team's games, play in 90% of the team's overall games, and be a key performer on the field while boasting a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. A committee of CSC members will vote to move a select group onto the Academic All-America® ballot.Â
In the classroom, Thomas has worked to accumulate a 3.91 GPA. His academic success has mirrored his achievements on the field as he appeared in all 18 games with 12 starts. The sophomore logged one goal in a 3–0 win over Shippensburg (9/18). Â
Van Vorhees is majoring in sports medicine and holds an impressive 3.67 GPA. The redshirt sophomore started and played in 15 out of 18 matches for the black and gold. He logged 46 saves for a 0.821 save percentage, second-best in the PSAC. Van Vorhees led the conference in goal against, averaging 0.679, and only let up 10 goals this season.Â
