KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Millersville University senior Jake Altimore has been recognized for his combined performance on the pitch and in the classroom as one of 20 players recognized as a United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Scholar All-American.
Altimore, named to the second team, received his bachelor's degree in mathematics on Dec. 14 after four seasons as a defensive stalwart for the Marauders. Altimore posted a 3.49 GPA while earning All-PSAC East honors three times. He was a second team selection in 2021 and 2023 and landed first team honors in 2024.
"Jake has always been a fantastic leader and role model both on the field and in the classroom, and we are extremely proud of his accomplishments," said Millersville head coach Steve Widdowson. "His recognition as a Scholar All-American is thoroughly deserved and a great way to end a superb career."
Altimore, a team captain in 2024, started 60 of 65 possible games during his Millersville career, logging 38 over his final two seasons. He anchored a defense that helped the Marauders to a 48-18-13 record over four seasons, and he was in the starting lineup for Millersville's 2021 and 2023 PSAC Championship victories.
The United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America teams included just four defenders on the two teams. Altimore was one of just three honorees from the PSAC and one of five players born in the United States.
Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, in Chicago, Ill., in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
