MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Lyle Howe has been named the assistant coach of the Millersville men's and women's soccer programs.

Howe will serve under men's team head coach Steve Widdowson and women's team head coach Matt Procopio. Howe is a former collegiate goalkeeper with professional playing experience and has spent the last several years as an assistant at Hartwick College.

"We are very excited to have Lyle join us at Millersville," said Procopio. "His coaching and playing experience will make him a valuable addition to both programs. Lyle demonstrated great knowledge of goalkeeping and recruiting which will be two very important parts of his role. He also exemplified the type of person and leader we are looking for in a coach."

"We are very excited to add Lyle to our coaching staff," said Widdowson. "Whenever we go through personnel changes, whether it be players or coaches, our aim is to always try and upgrade, and I feel we have definitely done that with the addition of Lyle to our staff. Lyle has a strong background and great experience and I think will fit perfectly into our program with his character and mentality. He is motivated and hungry for success, and I am excited to start this new project. I am sure Lyle will be an extremely positive addition to our program, the women's program and the department and university as a whole."

A standout goalkeeper at Saint Thomas University, Howe has coached at both the NCAA Division II and Division III levels. Howe helped Hartwick to back-to-back Empire 8 Conference Tournament appearances. His first stop at the collegiate level was working with the women's program at Nyack where he helped the program reach the CACC Tournament. In 2021, he helped the men's program to its first national ranking.

As a student-athlete, Howe served as a team captain and was named the defensive player of the year in leading Saint Thomas to a Sun Conference championship. Howe complete a bachelor's degree in communications in 2013. He earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from Nyack in 2017. After graduating from Saint Thomas, Howe spent a year in Berlin, Germany, playing for FC Spandau 06 and TSG Neustrelitz, and coaching youth players.
