LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The men's basketball coaches of the PSAC released their postseason awards and honorees on Friday, and Millersville University's Matt Dade and Justin Nwosu were named All-PSAC East.
Dade and Nwosu helped the Marauders to an 18-10 regular season record, and the team finished one game out of first place in a closely-contested Eastern Division. Dade was voted All-PSAC East First Team, and Nwosu earned second team recognition.
Dade landed his second career All-PSAC East honor as he was a second team selection at West Chester in 2021-22. With the Marauders, he elevated his performance to the first team. He led the Marauders in scoring 15 times and finished the season with a team-best 12.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 51.4% from the field. He was at his best against the PSAC East, averaging 14.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game against division opponents.
Nwosu, one of the team's three seniors and a four-year starter, earned his first All-PSAC honor. A versatile player and key factor in Millersville's defensive success, Nwosu averaged 9.7 points and a team-best 5.1 rebounds per game on the season. He also had his best performances against PSAC East opponents, averaging 10.4 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 34.6% from three. Nwosu finished his career with 115 career starts, ranking sixth all-time in games played, and his 1,275 points place him 26th in career points.
Coach Casey Stitzel's program has produced at least two All-PSAC East selections in each of the last four seasons--a feat not accomplished at Millersville since a seven-season run from 2001-02 to 2007-08.
Shippensburg, which won the PSAC East despite being swept by the Marauders, led all teams with three All-PSAC East selections as well as taking three of four major awards. Athlete of the year went to Carlos Carter, Dom Sleva was named defensive player of the year and Chris Fite was voted the coach of the year. Mansfield's Saraj Ali took freshman of the year honors.
In the PSAC West, IUP's Shawndale Jones landed the athlete of the year award and his coach Joe Lombardi, was named coach of the year. Pitt-Johnstown's John Paul Kromka and Andrew Shull received the defensive player of the year and freshman of the year awards.
