ABOUT THE GAME
- Millersville begins a five-game homestand on Saturday against Chestnut Hill. It is the first time that Chestnut Hill has played a game in Pucillo Gymnasium and just the fourth meeting all-time between the teams. SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
- At Bowie State on Wednesday, Jaden Faulkner became the 40th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, and he hit the milestone in just 69 career games. His career scoring average of 14.6 points per game ranks 20th all-time. Faulkner also moved up to No. 9 in career assists and trails Greg Testa ’07 (116 games) by nine for eighth place. He is one of eight players in program history with 1,000 points and 340 assists, and he’s played 27 fewer games than any other player on that list.
- The first three games have reaffirmed that Millersville has arguably the top offensive frontcourt in the PSAC. Drew Stover was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Monday and ranks second in the PSAC in field goal percentage while scoring in double-figures in all three games. Matt Dade ranks 13th in the PSAC in scoring and seventh in field goal percentage. Dade has scored double-figures in eight of his last nine games dating back to last season. He’s been ultra-consistent, scoring at least 15 points and grabbing at least six rebounds in each of the first three games.
- Coach Casey Stitzel pointed to his team’s defense as a primary reason for Wednesday’s loss at Bowie State. Millersville gave up more than 80 points in regulation for the first time since Jan. 14, 2023 and for just the ninth time since the start of the 2021-22 season. Millersville is just 2-7 in those games. Millersville has struggled to guard the 3-point lead this season, as each of the first three opponents have shot over 40%, and the Marauders rank 17th in the PSAC in 3-point defense. They also rank 16th in field goal percentage defense.
SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
- Chestnut Hill is in its first season under new head coach Andrew Radomicki. Radomicki was previously the associate head coach at Widener and also worked at Lafayette and Temple. Chestnut Hill went 16-14 last season but lost leading scorer M.J. Iraldi to the transfer portal and defending national champs Nova Southeastern. The Griffins underwent significant roster turnover in the offseason, and Adam Angwafo has emerged as the team’s top scorer, averaging 16.0 per game, including 25 against Roberts Wesleyan on Nov. 11. Alejandro Redondo Cyback has recorded back-to-back double-doubles.
SERIES HISTORY
- Millersville and Chestnut Hill first placed in 2014-15, and the teams have played just three times. The 2014 and 2022 meeting were both decided by five points. Chestnut Hill has scored at least 77 points in all three games.
- The Last Meeting Chestnut Hill 79, Millersville 74 (11/19/2022): Millersville rallied from a double-digit deficit to take a one-point lead with a minute to play but could not hang on as homestanding Chestnut Hill scored on three-straight possessions to pull out a 79-74 victory. Drew Stover led the Marauders with a career-high 21 points, hitting 10-of-13 field goals in 21 minutes of play.
