MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University women's lacrosse team took home a high scoring 16-12 victory over Shippensburg on their senior day. 'Ville moves to a 12-5 record which is the most wins the program has seen since 1990 (13 wins). 'Ville was able to outpace the Raiders scoring eight goals to six goals in the first half, and another eight goals to six goals in the second half giving them momentum as they roll into the playoffs.
Seven different Marauders were able to score in today's matchup. Rachel Keeny led the Marauders in scoring, connecting with the net four times.
Ashlyn Simonetti was able to record three goals, followed by
Gillian Zimmerman,
Grace Cobaugh,
Kaleigh Funk, and
Liv Genovese who each scored twice.
Morgan Scott recorded ten saves and moves to 12-5 in net following the win.
Zimmerman remains eighth all-time career goals with 137 and takes the number six spot in single season goals with 58, passing Stephanie McClay '88 who finished her season with 56 goals. Zimmerman now has 68 points this season, moving her into a tie for eighth all time with former teammate Sabrina Fusco '18. Â Juliano recorded her 34
th assist which is second all-time in single season history.
The Marauders improve to 12-5 and 8-4 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play, while Shippensburg falls to 4-13 and 2-10 in PSAC East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First-half play for the Marauders looked like it was going to be a blowout, taking a 7-2 lead shortly after the second quarter started. Shippensburg was able to battle back in the second quarter scoring four goals before the half ended.
- Second-half play got chippy between the two teams with five yellow cards being called, four on Shippensburg and one on Millersville. Despite the final efforts from Shippensburg, Millersville was able to keep the Raiders to one goal in the fourth quarter.

- Keeny fired a team-high eight shots, five on goal. Zimmerman followed with seven, four on goal, and Cobaugh with six, four on goal.
- Marycait Dorley and Scott recorded a team-high three ground balls each.
- Juliano, Cobaugh, and Zimmerman each recorded an assist.
- Millersville was 16-18 on clears, while Shippensburg was 11-16.
- Shippensburg recorded 16 turnovers, while Millersville recorded 13.
- Millersville recorded more ground balls than Shippensburg, 20-19.
