Women's lacrosse falls to No. 4 West Chester in PSAC Quarterfinals

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team saw its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament run hopes come to an end Tuesday night against West Chester, as the No. 4 Golden Rams defeated the Marauders, 20-2.

Millersville kept the game within reach after the first quarter of action, holding the Golden Ram offense to four goals; however, the Marauders couldn't find the offensive firepower it needed to compete with West Chester, getting outscored 16-2 in the final three quarters of play. The two Marauder goals were scored by Liv Genovese and Charlotte Lasak, with Genovese assisting Lasak on her score.

Freshman goalkeeper, Morgan Scott recorded 11 saves in the contest, a handful of them in one-on-one situations. Her biggest save of the quarterfinal came at the 3:14 mark in the third quarter when she stopped a two-on-one situation for the Golden Rams. Scott ends her freshman campaign as just the second goalie in program history to win 12 or more games.

Despite the loss, the Marauders finished the regular season with the most wins the program has seen since 1990 and just the third PSAC postseason appearance in 21 years. PSAC Coach of the Year, Cindy Wilson has now made the postseason in two of her three seasons at Millersville, with the 2020 season being canceled for COVID-19. The group also saw six Marauders named to All-PSAC teams, which has only happened once prior to 2022.

REACTION FROM HEAD COACH CINDY WILSON
• On the season: "This was a very exciting season and a very special team. We couldn't be prouder of all this group has accomplished. The team worked hard all year and set a great foundation for us to continue to build on in the future. They have definitely left their mark on the Millersville women's lacrosse program. I also want to thank Mac, Gill, and Amanda for all of their hard work and leadership and wish them luck in their next chapter.  They will certainly be missed!"
