Marauders blank ESU, extending winning streak to eight

| By:
Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The wins just keep coming for the Millersville women's tennis team which shutout East Stroudsburg 7-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Marauders' winning streak of eight is now the program's longest in 20 years.

The last time Millersville women's tennis won eight-straight matches was in 2002, a season in which the team won the PSAC Championship. The Marauders improved to 12-5 with the win and now have the most victories by a Millersville team since 2005. Most importantly, however, the Marauders moved to 5-0 in PSAC East action, keeping a tight grip on first place and lowering their magic number to one. Millersville can clinch the division title with a win at Shippensburg on April 19.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The seniors who played the role of hero in Tuesday's comeback win over West Chester received a break Wednesday. But even without Jasmine Morris and Kelsey Heckert in the doubles lineup and Morris not playing singles, the Marauders had no problem taking all seven points. Julie Wallace and Noelle Htwar improved to 14-9 with a 6-1 win. Maria Ojeda and Hui Jen Soo teamed for the first time and still came up with a 6-0 win. It was just the second doubles appearance of the season for Soo.
• In singles, East Stroudsburg managed to take just one game in the five contested sets. That came at No. 1 singles where Ojeda moved up her regular No. 2 spot to No. 1 and cruised, 6-0, 6-1. Htwar (No. 2), Wallace (No. 3), Heckert (No. 4) and Abramowitz (No. 5) all won by 6-0, 6-0 counts. Htwar, Wallace, Heckert and Abramowitz all have 11 singles wins on the season.
