MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team picked up its third win in the last four games over Shepherd Friday afternoon, 17-13. Both
Kristi Kada and
Gillian Zimmerman scored five goals in the win, while
Amanda Juliano followed with three of her own. The Marauders take sole possession of the third spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East standings with the win, passing up Bloomsburg, who they took down earlier this week.
Millersville improves to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in PSAC East play following the win, while Shepherd falls to 3-6 overall, and 1-4 in PSAC East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• First-quarter play was even, as each team scored four goals to end the first 15 minutes in a tie.
• The Marauders held a two-goal edge at the end of quarter two, scoring back-to-back-to-back-to-back goals midway through the second to get there. Juliano and Zimmerman led 'Ville with two goals each in the quarter.
• The Rams and Marauders played another even quarter during the third set of 15 minutes, each netting four goals, which gave the Marauders a two-goal advantage heading into the fourth.
• Kada started fourth-quarter play off with two consecutive goals to give the Marauders a four-goal lead heading into the final 10 minutes. Marycait Dorley would stretch the 'Ville lead to five two minutes later with a free position goal. The Rams were able to cut the Marauder lead to three with four minutes remaining, but the Marauders didn't let up, leading to their fourth home win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Kada fired a team-high 11 shots, and eight shots on goal in the victory. Zimmerman followed with nine shots, seven on frame.

Taiyana Goldsborough led the team in ground balls with three on the afternoon.
• Millersville was 9-10 on clears, while Shepherd was 17-23.
• 'Ville held the edge in total shots, 38-29.
• Millersville committed 17 turnovers, while Shepherd committed 14.
• The Rams recorded seven more ground balls than the Marauders, 24-17.

Morgan Scott earned the win in goal, bringing her overall record to 7-3.
