Zimmerman scores 100th career goal in win over Kutztown

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team took down Kutztown Tuesday night, 11-5. The Marauders outscored the Golden Bears 7-0 in the first half, leading to their six-goal victory. Kristi Kada led the Marauder offense with five points off a team-high four goals and an assist, Amanda Juliano followed with four points off two goals and a team-high two assists. Morgan Scott secured her fifth win of the season off a seven-save performance.

Gillian Zimmerman hit a career milestone today, scoring her 100th career goal in the gold and black at the 3:12 mark in first-quarter play, she's now 18 goals behind Jeanine Parrish ('90) for tenth all-time in program history.  Zimmerman is currently tied for the team-high in goals scored this season with 21 through seven games.

Millersville improves to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play following the win, while Kutztown falls to 3-3 overall, and 0-2 in PSAC East play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 • The Marauders took an early 1-0 lead off a Kada score at the 13:44 mark in first-quarter play and were able to carry that momentum throughout the quarter, finishing with a 3-0 lead courtesy of two more goals from Zimmerman and Juliano.
• Millersville continued to build on its lead in second-quarter action, scoring three goals, five minutes into play to go up 6-0. Rachel Keeney rounded the first half scoring out with just under five minutes remaining, putting 'Ville up seven going into halftime.  
• 'Ville outscored Kutztown 3-1 in third-quarter play, with goals coming from Kada, Rachel Keeney, and Liv Genovese, which extended the lead to 10-1.
• Kutztown put together a comeback try in the fourth, outscoring the Marauders 4-1; however, the lead proved to be too much, as 'Ville cruised to its third home win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Kada fired a team-high five shots on goal, while Zimmerman, Juliano, Keeney, and Grace Cobaugh each sent four at the KU keeper.
Morgan Scott led the team with seven ground balls, Cobaugh followed with five of her own.
• Millersville was 23-24 on clears, while Kutztown was 21-31. 
• 'Ville held the edge in total shots, 34-20.
• Kutztown committed 18 turnovers, while Millersville committed 17. 
• The Marauders recorded five more ground balls than KU, 28-23.
