MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville University senior James Sullivan has been named College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® 2 for the second time in his career. Sullivan was one of just five players in District 2 to be recognized for their combined athletic and academic performances.
The Academic All‐District® Men's Basketball Team is nominated by and voted on by sports information directors who are members of CoSIDA. The organization recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. As an all-district selection, Sullivan will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration. District 2 is comprised of teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Mountain East Conference and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Sullivan, also an honoree in 2021, is working on his second undergraduate degree while completing his final season of basketball eligibility. Sullivan has already earned a degree in business from Millersville and is now pursuing a degree in international studies. He owns a 3.91 cumulative GPA, which ranked second among the all-district honorees. Sullivan is also a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete. On the court, Sullivan has helped the Marauders to a 21-5 record, a No. 7 ranking in the most recent NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings, and a current first-place standing in the PSAC East.
In addition to holding a reputation as one of the best defenders in the region, Sullivan averages 12.4 points per game, leads the team with 1.2 steals per game and ranks second on the team in assists with 2.5 per game. Sullivan is shooting 46.2% from the field and 34% from three. He ranks 27th in Millersville history with 1,239 career points. He also ranks fifth with 158 steals and eighth with 171 3-pointers made. Sullivan was an All-PSAC East Second Team selection in 2019-20.
Sullivan was joined on the All-District 2 team by West Liberty's Bryce Butler, Shepherd's Kyle Daggett, Pitt-Johnstown's John Paul Kromka, and Fairmont State's Cole VanHandorf.
