MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - With injuries up and down the lineup, Millersville adapted, and the wrestlers delivered with a 31-13 PSAC dual win over East Stroudsburg Saturday. The Marauders won seven of 10 matches including three via pinfall.
Millersville (5-8, 2-5 PSAC) got pins from
Bryce Beatty (125),
Matt Morris (133), and
Anthony Yacovetti (174). Millersville improved to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in PSAC action with the win in the team's dual finale.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville started the dual with three-straight victories, building a 15-0 lead.
Bryce Beatty battled his way to a pin with just 49 seconds remaining in his 125-pound match with Joshua Jasonowicz.
Matt Morris, in the starting lineup for the first time this season, got his pin 27 seconds into the second period (3:33). Flannery followed with his 14th win in 18 matches by edging Zach Lewis, 10-8.
• ESU scored victories at the next three weight classes to make the score 15-13 in favor of Millersville, but Yacovetti ended the run, pinning Sezar Charles in just 52 seconds.
Anthony Giampietro blanked Josh Leidig in an 8-0 major decision.
Bruce Vaughan outlasted edged Ajay Hiller by a 4-2 score, clinching the win for the Marauders.
Jordan Espinosa closed the dual by grinding out a 3-0 win over Matt Richardson.
• Millersville also won three all three extra matches, with
Tyler Stanton,
Brandon Connor and
Danny Pereira all getting victories. Connor's came by a fall in 1:59.
NOTES
• Yacovetti is now 12-2 on the season and has four falls.
• Morris scored his fifth fall of the season, which is a team high.
• The win was Millersville's first over ESU since 2018. It is also the first time Millersville has won two PSAC duals since 2013-14.
