ABOUT THE GAME

  • The Marauders head to Shippensburg Wednesday night as winners in three of their last five games, with their most recent victory coming on the road Monday night over East Stroudsburg. The Raiders have also won three of their last five contests, with their most recent win coming over Seton Hill Monday night as well.  Shippensburg is currently a middle of the pack team in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East standings, sitting at No. 4, while the Marauders are at No. 8 and fighting to move up in the standings.
This week is a crucial week for our team if we still want a chance at the postseason. Therefore, we are focused on taking one game at a time and continuing to grow together.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders showed their ability to bounce back from a loss Monday night at East Stroudsburg after suffering their largest loss of the season to Bloomsburg the game before. 'Ville came out on top of a low-scoring battle with the Warriors that saw Lauren Lister with 13 points and Christina Brown with a huge nine-point effort in nine minutes off the bench for Head Coach Sharay Hall.
  • Lauren Lister is currently 127 points away from 2,000 career points as a Marauder, she needs to average 14.1 points per game for the duration of the regular season to achieve that number.
  • The Marauders are currently ranked as the No. 8 defensive unit in the PSAC, allowing just under 60 points per game. They also rank fourth in steals (10.06 per game) and ninth in blocks (3.11 per game).

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

  • Shippensburg is ranked the sixth best offensive team in the PSAC, averaging just over 66 points per game. The Raiders' leading scoring is Destiny Jefferson, she currently averages 16.9 points per game. The senior has has quite a few big games this season, scoring 29 against Shepherd and 25 against Jefferson.
  • The Raiders win battles on the boards, outrebounding their opponents 753-663 this season; However, they do turn the ball over more times than their opponents, 372-315. The Marauders' zone press will look to disrupt the Raider offense.

THE LAST TIME OUT

Millersville: Millersville 49, ESU 43 (Jan. 31, 2022) - The Marauders took an lead early in the first quarter and didn't look back, leading to their third PSAC victory this season. Lauren Lister scored a game-high 13 points while Christina Brown came in off the bench in the second half and provided nine points in nine minutes, a season-high for the guard. 

Shippensburg: Shippensburg 69, Seton Hill 65 (Jan. 31, 2022) - Shippensburg had a huge first half, outscoring the visiting Seton Hill Griffins 41-23; However, the Griffins would mount a second-half comeback and pull within three points of the Raiders with less then 40 seconds left in regulation. Taja Colbert was able to drill a free throw to give the Raiders a four-point lead with three seconds remaining, surviving the comeback.
