The Marauders have had an extremely successful start to their 2022-23 season. They are currently 3-0 and have now won 11 straight meets in a row, continuing on from there 8-0 season in 2021-22. The Marauders broke two pool records, swam nine PSAC qualifying times, and reached seven personal best times in their meet on Oct. 29 against Elizabethtown.
The Marauders are training vigorously in the pool and the weight room throughout the week. Although they do not believe their success only comes from their training. A key element for the team is the culture. They work extremely hard each year to create a supportive atmosphere for the newcomers and the returners. To them, hearing their teammates cheering them on during their race impacts them just as much, if not more than the training during the week.
The team has had a variety of swimmers step up in different events and play key roles in the team's success. Claire Weaver now ranks fourth performer of all time, in Millersville history, in the 200-yard freestyle. Jane McClelland and Leah Eckert have also reached new personal bests and broke school records in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard relay. McClelland and Eckert have also posted PSAC qualifying times in their individual events over the last three meets.
The Millersville swim team has scored over 100 points in all three meets this season. They had a similar trend in the first six meets of their 2021-22 season.
