MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's basketball team posted 92-points against Penn State Abington, making it their third straight game scoring at least 90 points over opponents. The Marauders hosted the Lions in Pucillo Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon and dominated to win 92-37. With Sunday's win, Millersville moves to a 4-1 overall record making it their best start since 2012-13 when the Marauders went 5-0 to start the season.
In the box, Millersville saw 14 different players score with four reaching double-digits. Brenna Ortwein led the Marauders with her current season high of 14-points, shooting 5-of-8 on the floor and sank 1-of-2 threes. Freshman forward, Morgan Mahoney, tallied 11-points and went 5-for-8 from the floor. The freshmen point guards, Marin Miller and Jillian Crawford, contributed 10-points each. Taylor Langan and Christina Brown produced six assists of their own, with Langan totaling nine points and Brown scoring three off-the-bench.
Defensively, Millersville maintained consistent pressure throughout the four quarters and forced Penn State Abington in making 30 turnovers. The Marauders held the Lions to shooting 23.7% on the floor and 25% beyond the arc. Millersville capitalized on their lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Lions 30-4. La'Shyra Williams blocked three Lions shots and grabbed five rebounds. Off the bench, Nia Lawrence led Millersville in rebounds with eight, five of which were defensive.
