Record breaking day for Millersville swimming

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team had a record breaking meet Saturday afternoon versus the Elizabethtown Blue Jays. The Marauders broke two pool records, swam nine PSAC Championship qualifying times, and reached seven personal best times. Overall, the team outscored their opponent, 177-79.

MEET RESULTS 
  • Claire Weaver beat the previous pool record of 1:58.63 by Danielle Parowski of Lock Haven University (2013) by going 1:57.26 in the 200-yard freestyle. 
  • The 400-yard freestyle relay, consisting of Claire Weaver, Jane McClelland, Jewels Hepner, and Jordan Plempel, swam 3:39.34 beating the previous record of 3:41.97, set by the Millersville relay team made up from Brigid Kavanaugh, Rachel Anderson, Rachel Malampy, and Amanda Thomas in 2014. 
  • Kristen Maile set a personal best in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:17.28) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.49) while leading off the relay. Maile's performance in the 1,000 free ranks her as the No. 10 performer, of all time at Millersville. 
  • Kate Pelagatti also set two new personal bests in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.78) and the 200 IM (2:21.74). 
  • Rebecca Yeager, Jane McClelland, and Leah Eckert also set personal bests in their specific events. 
  • Millersville is now 3-0 on the season with 11-straight dual victories. Millersville has outscored each opponent by at least 72 points. 
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING TIMES
  • Kristen Maile in the 1,000 free, 100 fly, and 100 free from leading off the 400 freestyle relay. 
  • Claire Weaver in the 200 free.
  • Jordan Plempel in the 200 free and 200 backstroke. 
  • Maddi Stoner in the 200 fly. 
  • Jewels Hepner in the 50 free. 
  • Jane McClelland in the 200 breaststroke. 
REACTION FROM COACH USBECK ON THE MEET
  • "The team created a great tone for the meet with some very electric swims early on. They kept cheering for each other enjoying the meet atmosphere. I am very happy with their performances today."
UP NEXT
  • The Marauders will travel to Bloomsburg on Nov. 4, where they will compete in a tri-meet against the Huskies and the Edinboro Fighting Scots.
