ABOUT THE GAME

  • The Millersville women’s soccer team is set for a rematch against undefeated, No. 2 West Chester on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Pucillo Field in what will be the team’s final home match of the 2022 season. The two programs last met on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in West Chester where the Marauders almost went the distance with the nationally ranked Golden Rams. Millersville, after trailing for almost the entire first half, scored an equalizer early in the second, courtesy of Isabel Coy. ‘Ville would come close to forcing a draw with the then ranked No. 5 West Chester, but fell short, giving up a game-winning goal late in the 89’. The Golden Rams haven’t given up a score since Coy’s in the 50’ on Sept. 28. The Marauders one of just four teams to score a goal on the West Chester defense this season.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Head coach Matt Procopio and the Marauders are coming off one of their best weeks of the season, outscoring their opponents 6-0 through two Pennsylvania state Athletic Conference (PSAC) East wins.
  • Rachel Leisher, who hadn’t found the back of the net at the start of the week, changed that with two goals, one being a game-winner at home against East Stroudsburg. Joining Leisher in the scoring column last week was Palina Jordan, Savannah Rennix, Emma Elwell and Morgan Winchock.
  • Bella Fiorenza earned both starts in goal, recording two shut-out victories and making eight saves in the process. The senior is set to see her first look at a potent Golden Ram offense on Wednesday as Reagan Kolinski drew the start in the matchup earlier this season.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS

  • The No. 2 Golden Rams are coming into this match with a 15-0 record: one of the nation’s only teams without a loss. A large part of the team’s success comes from its dominance on defense as they hold a .267 goals-against average. West Chester goalkeeper, Hayley McGee ranks fourth in the nation with 10 shutouts this season, two behind the national leader.
  • The Golden Rams are equally as talented in the attacking third, outscoring opponents 42-4 while sending in over 340 shots compared to opponents’ 118. Kaitlynn Haughey and Jacqueline Hug lead the team with seven goals each, white Faith Matter has scored six and leads the team in assists with six.
