MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team ended its senior day match with East Stroudsburg in a scoreless draw. The result gave 'Ville one point in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division standings.
Millersville (9-3-5, 5-2-4 PSAC East) was outshot by East Stroudsburg (6-8-2, 5-3-2 PSAC East) in the first half of play 6-5, before more than doubling the Warriors' shots in the second half 13-6. Although the Marauders were able to record 18 shots, only four landed on-frame.
Redshirt senior,
Spencer Shortt, recorded the only 'Ville shot on-goal in the first half, which was stopped by the ESU keeper. On the opposite side of the field, the Warriors weren't able to send a shot at
Bobby Bosch during the first 45' of play.
The Marauders picked up the pace in second-half play, firing five shots in the first seven minutes, two landing on-goal. However, neither team could make a final push to take the lead, which resulted in the draw.
There are currently four teams still vying for a postseason berth in the PSAC East, three have played 10 games, Millersville has played 11. Bloomsburg leads the pack with 22 points, followed by West Chester with 20, then 'Ville with 19 and ESU rounds out the top-four with 17. Only three teams are granted entry to the PSAC tournament.
