Millersville looks for back-to-back victories against Shippensburg

ABOUT THE GAME 

  • Millersville women’s lacrosse returns home this Tuesday, April 6 at 4 p.m. following a road victory against Shepherd over the weekend. The victory snapped the Marauders’ five game losing streak and gave the team just its second win of the season. 
  • The Marauders’ first victory of the season came on the road against the Raiders in early March. Millersville topped Shippensburg in a 15-11 win on the Raiders’ home field. 
  • Sara Burney leads the Marauders’ offensive efforts with a team-high 21 points from 12 goals and nine assists. Grace Coabugh follows close behind in goals with 11 of her own. 
  • Gillian Zimmerman has fired off the most shots at the net this season with 20 of her 27 shots landing on goal. She also leads the team in free position shots with 11, four of which she scored off of. 
  • Taiyanna Goldsborugh continues to hold down the fort in the backfield with 23 ground balls. 
  • Michella Salvitt and MaryCait Dorley lead the Marauders in caused turnovers with 10 apiece. 
  • Genevieve Speights remains strong on the draw for the Marauders controlling a team-high 33. 
  • Goalkeeper Kaleigh Sasdelli has played and started in all seven games this season and has made 56 saves. 

 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

  • The Raiders are currently 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC. The team’s only conference win came against Kutztown on March 27, convincingly defeating the Golden Bears 12-5. 
  • Shippensburg is recently coming off a loss at home against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, April 3. 
  • The Raiders currently lead in the all-time series against the Marauders, 8-6, but hold a three-game losing streak. 
  • Hannah Seifriend leads the scoring effort for Shippensburg with a team-high 18 points from 17 goals and one assist. She ties with Gabby Savarino for the most draw controls on the team with 29. 
  • McKenna Keller leads the defensive effort for the Raiders with 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. 
  • Ally Weneta and KiKi Brasher have split time in the net this season. Brasher has recorded 27 saves on 82 shots faced and Weneta has totaled 49 saves on 144 shots faced. 
Playing a team twice is always a challenge, but we are going to take care of ourselves and need to work as a unit tomorrow.
