Women’s lacrosse offense struggles, loses to No. 4 West Chester

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Amanda Juliano scored the lone goal for the Marauders in the first half of the game against West Chester. The Golden Rams pulled ahead of Millersville for a 19-1 victory.
 
Millersville falls to 2-7 on the season and 2-6 in the PSAC. West Chester improves to a perfect 8-0 record overall and in the conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Chester got off to a hot start holding a 3-0 lead after the first six minutes of play. A foul on the Golden Rams set up Millersville's Amanda Juliano for a free position goal, which would be the only goal of the game for the Marauders. The Millersville offense struggled to rattle off any more goals. West Chester added 16 more goals in the game to win 19-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • West Chester led the game in shots (29-15) and draw controls (13-6).
  • Millersville held the advantage in ground balls scooping up 22 to the Golden Rams' 17.
  • After a low-shooting first half, Millersville rattled off 10 shots in the second and held West Chester to only 11.
  • Genevieve Speights ripped four shots in the game with one landing on net while Grace Cobaugh had three. The duo also led the team in draw controls with two apiece.
  • Speights and Taiyanna Goldsborough picked up the most ground balls for the Marauders. Goldsborough caused a team-high three turnovers.
  • Kaleigh Sasdelli recorded all 60 minutes in net and made six saves.

  • "We can learn a lot from today's game and see what we need to do to work toward playing at that level. One key thing is always taking care of each other throughout the field, and I think our team did that well today."
  • "Going into Saturday, we need to refocus and be disciplined with the small pieces of the game. They are important to allow us to build into bigger pieces."
